Hi everyone!
The title of my post is taken from the video clip of John Overdurf's introduction to his master practioner training:
John Overdurf: All We Are Is Change...
It's called "all we are is change" and I think he does a really superb job of weaving metaphors from Quantum Physics into a very powerful changework model. Now, I heard plenty of new age thinking that attemps to use quantum mechanics to talk about NLP, therapy, spirituality, etc. And in my opinion most of it is rubbish! Most of what I heard on this subject seems to suffer from being too preachy, painfully sloppy in their logic, and very often confused on the "map/terittory" distiction. So the first time I was about to hear John talk about his view on the connection between modern physiscs and NLP, I was quite fearful that I might have to endure yet another puke-inducing nonsence.
John put me immediately at ease by stating upfront that he is talking metaphors... and then he said that everything is a metaphore and the real fun started:
John Overdurf: All We Are Is Change...
Of course your mileage will vary, so check it out for yourself!
In my personal ranking of the NLP trainers John comes as one of the best in the field. My opinion is definetely affected by the fact that I took my Master Prac with him and had a chance to benefit a lot from his work.
And yet, there some great things about his way of teaching that come accross from that little video window in the center of one's browser that, I belive, will be noticed be the people who haven't had a chance to train with him yet.
His congruency for starters -- I like the way his voice and body language project relaxed confidence of someone who doesn't need to try to convince anyone. I never get the vibe with him that I'm "being persuaded". It feels more like here is someone sharing his ideas and who gave these ideas a lot of thought.
I also find his metaphors and the way he nests them very skillful. Also check out his use of hands while he is sitting! LOL.
Lots to learn, lots to think about.
Enjoy:
