NLP Bore (2): You mustn’t talk about problems!

In the second NLP Bore trait other people are not allowed to ‘be negative’. They must remain in a permanently positive frame of mind otherwise they’ll be ‘NLPed’. So you can’t discuss your problems – that’s not positive. You can’t talk about your difficulties – because we have to deal with process and not with content. [...]

Parkinsons Help with Hallucinations

My dad has had Parkinsons for about 16 years and been pretty healthy in spite of this. A year or so ago he started to hallucinate quite badly.

Anyway the consultant pretty much told him that nothing could now be done for him a while back and for the past month or so he has had really strong hallucinations most of the time. I remember Richard Bandler talking about a case (different illness) where the psychiatrist got the guy to put a black line around the real images to differentiate from the imagined. I’ve concentrated with suggestions about telling the difference and being able to forget about the imagined images. Not had much of an effect and I wondered if a “grown up” NLPer/hypnotherapist may be able to help more?

I’m not expecting a cure per-se as the problem is caused by a chemical imbalance but I would hope that he may be able to at least learn to ignore the hallucinations more often and improve his situation?

I wondered if someone on the site who is skilled in this area would be interested in trying to make a difference here on personal sessions with my dad?

I don't ever believe in giving up, especially when a very respected clinician says that nothing more can be one with traditional medicine ..

Excellent Prep. for Grinder’s Seminars

Dr. Robert Burton delivers an hour long overview lecture at the Google campus... which has important (essential ?) overlaps with the material John Grinder speaks to... IMHO, this is a concise introduction to some of the problems that directly concern JG and will bring you up to speed if you're thinking about attending a training event with John and Carmen...

Stystems Thinking As a Mental Model

I Intend to Shock You

I became interested in NLP as a result of seduction and it's possible applications to sales. I am a certified hypnotist, but I haven't practiced for a long time and intend to get back to it. I finance my life as a professional poker player. As a result, I travel quite a bit. I primarily play in Las Vegas, though I will travel to large tournaments in Europe, as well as other locations in the states.
I am fascinated by magic and mentalism, so, like many, I'm a fan of Derren Brown and his illusions.
I love peole and hope to brighten each of your days as much as I am certain you will brighten mine.

Conference

Hi everybody,
Why no followup on the conference, I missed it by a day and hoped there might be a little feedback on here ------- so how about it?

John

“There is a difference between learning about NLP and learning to do NLP. I decided that one
of the most important benefit that we could bring to people who are interested to teach them
how to do NLP as I originally intended it to be used – to create more love and freedom for every human being on the planet.NLP is about learning to learn the way your brain learns rather than the way you’ve been taught to learn. It’s about learning to move quickly beyond
limitations. It’s about making your mind up, rather than your mind making up you.

One thing that people really need to get about my life’s work is that it’s not about therapy or business or ‘networking’ organisations - it’s about freedom!”

Alzheimers and NLP

Hi all,
Just wondered if anybody had any helpful thoughts on the use of NLP to help with Alzheimers / dementia where there are hallucinations present? I found a very old thread on here (2005) but would be grateful if anyone can give me any new leads - maybe you read a good book, heard of someone who works in this area or maybe have personal experience with Alzheimers / dementia. My mum has been exhibiting all the symptoms and we're waiting for a diagnosis but I wanted to learn what I can in the meantime.
Grateful for any help.
Thanks in advance
Sharon

New Business Models for Creative Industries?

Killing music? Really?

As a musician's union member, I am quite concerned about the music industry's recent endeavours towards a police state, in the hope that this is a magic pill for all their woes. I really thought it would go nowhere, but it seems that they are actually being fairly successful in wooing government into creating a bigger stick. Something needs to change.. so, the question is what?

Killing Music

For a quick run down on recent idiocy..

Lily Allen who is publicly declaring copyright infringers evil, happened by accident to copy and paste a journalist's work into her rant, without a polite credit or link to his work. The said journalist was not too happy.. Oh.. the irony, of publicly decrying breach of copyright, while actually doing it in the same fucking post..
Lily Allen, Don't Apologize To Me, Apologize To Everyone Else | Techdirt

Heres a telegraph commentary of the whole saga.. She has now abondoned her uninformed war luckily..
Lily Allen drops fight against filesharing after Techdirt spat - Telegraph

That seems insane and maybe a one off, but I came across another muso big wig today, Mark Ronson decrying the same thing on his blog, while having at the same moment on his home page a copy right stolen video! These idiots, don't even know they are copying.. it's totally insane.. They are just spouting what they are told..

Metaphors and Learning.

Hi Guys,
I must say I am skeptical of alot of these accellerated Learning Programs. But one technique I really liked and I use it alot with my students (Im a history teacher) is to use symbols to represent the information, such as dates, names or timelines of events. I would have my students use their imaginations and to place the symbols in different locations in a room

I believe this technique is called 'In Loco' and was used by the ancient Greeks and has been associated alot with Tony Buzan. It was super as in a short period of time I was able to have the entire class remembering the entire timeline of events that led to the outbreak of world war one. Anyway I wanted to share it as I think it is very effective, also as NLP is about focusing on what works, voila, here is my feedback.

Does anyone know of anyother effective techniques, including non nlp techniques?

Advice Needed

Hi,

I have to work (for lack of a better word that I could come up with while I write this) with a child who has been assessed by an educational psychologist to be 'dyslexic'.

What I have been able to figure out so far from the mother of the child is as follows:

a) The mother has several beliefs about how the child is academically challenged

b) From the report and the discussion with his mother, it appears that the child is basically spelling and pronouncing literally - as one would do in German language - he spells the words exactly as he knows how to pronounce them and when he is asked to read - he reads the words exactly as he sees the alphabets placed.

I have gone through the previous posts in this website and have obtained certain useful references.

Would any of you have any other quick pointers to recommend specifically concerning point (b) above - in terms of what I could do?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

- Anil

P.S.:- All the other issues mentioned by the educational psychologist seems to be follow through consequences of the above spelling/pronouncing strategy. I haven't yet met the child and hence am yet to test this (and other) theories.

Warwickshire Practice Group

Hi.

I've just completed my Premier Practitioner (including New Code) with Michael Carroll and Martin Wyse at the NLP Academy, plus Metaphors and Butterflies and the first week of Trainers Training with John Grinder and Carmen Bostic-St Clair.

I'm interested in setting up a practice group (if enough people show interest) or joining someone else's. I'm not necessarily seeking a structured session, rather, an opportunity to explore recent learnings with others.

Please contact me via this forum if you are interested.

Thanks
Suzy

"This course blew me away! Peter's enthusiasm for the New Code way of working is completely infectious. This course changed my life;I recommend Peter's course to anyone who wants to take their practice for their clients and themselves to a whole new level. Peter is a brilliant example of someone who walks his talk. I'm still having light bulb moments months after the course. As far as I can see the possibilities of affecting change in individuals with New Code NLP are endless. Anyone wanting to be at the cutting edge of this should be signing up for this course asap."

"The new code nlp course was a revelation - it changed the way I approach everything I do, whether it's with a client or using it for my own self development and health. It is a major string to the bow.It was taught in a fantastic way that pulled all the pieces of the puzzle together, without feeling like it was something I would struggle to remember, with plenty of time to practice and integrate the core learning's. Just didn't want the course to end - Peter is so enthusiastic, passionate and skilled at what he does it is infectious!"

"If there was one reason why someone should train in New Code NLP with Peter, it would be to gain the opportunity to learn from someone who is truly passionate about what they do with a genuine understanding of what NLP is and how to use it as it was originally intended by it's creators."

"This training was an important milestone in my development as a cognitive hypnotherapist. The New Code NLP course gave me a greater appreciation of how to apply NLP to myself as well as adding more resources to my therapy toolbox to. People often refer to "new code games" in connection with new Code NLP but it is far more than that. It is a fresh look at NLP that enhances anyone who already has a background in classic code. The small size of the group who were all friendly and full of energy coupled with Peter's dynamic style made this course one I am glad I went on."

"All my skills have greatly improved with both courses. I would highly recommend both of them although for me the New code was more life changing. If I had to think of one benefit (apart from all the above) of doing the course It would be the support that you get from Peter and fellow trainees during and after completion of the course. This is priceless."
