Can NLP be Ported to other languages? Like Spanish or Portuguese?

Do you think that can be done successfully and create the same results?
What do you think can be Ported and what not?

Online Bookstore Recommended?

Hi there,
I am looking to buy several copies of an NLP book to complement our wee bookstore in our offices and wondered if somebody could recommend a specialist online bookstore. Amazon.co.uk is not so good when it comes to bulk buying!
Looking forward to your tips!

Life is Pointless if I Cannot Be Perfect

A client (36) said to me at the end of the intake session that life is pointless if she can not be the best in the office, the most gorgeous looking, most intelligent and most perfect in every way. She has an incredible high pitched voice, like a young 12 year old girl and I was surprised when I met her to see a 36 year old woman. She comes to me for weight loss as she sais that she wants to lose 30 kg to be on the outside who she is in the inside, but whenever she reaches a certain weight, she stops herself and feels that she is scared of the outcome, as what then? At this point she wants to be helped.
The weightloss is for her a means to an end to get into her fairy tale life, the relationship she wants and having lots of babies. As she is overweight, she does not allow herself to get into any relationship as well as believes that as her body is not perfect , she rejects good work offers, as she thinks my body is not perfect, so why do people believe I can do the job well. Regarding a relationship she sais: "What if I am perfect and get into a relationship, what if my partner is not perfect or I am not perfectly in love, or my life is nevertheless not perfect." Yes, I have my own sense how to proceed (Core transformation with the part which makes her stop), nevertheless I would be interested what thoughts or ideas you might have concerning the usage of NLP in her case. Thanks a lot for your insights. :(

Effortless Success with Michael Neill

Description: Join Michael Neill for a fun day that will change forever how you think about success. So much of the therapy and self-help movement is built on the premise that there's something wrong with us. We're told that if we change our thinking, our behaviour, our personality, or even our brand of shampoo, then everything will finally begin to work the way it's supposed to. But what if there's nothing wrong with us? What if everything you've been taught about success up to this point was wrong?

Trainers on YouTube

Hi All,

I recently watched an online video clip of a well known trainer delivering some training. I thought that it was pretty awful.

I am wondering, given that this particular trainer appears, sometimes, to have good things said about him, why I would think it so bad.

One of the reasons that I thought up was that in a training, a trainer would spend some time gaining some level of rapport with the group. I would have missed out on that.

If that is a possibility, is it wise for trainers to publish such video?

Clean Language and metaphor teleclass

Are you passionate about language, thrilled by the magic of metaphor and excited by powerful change techniques? Do you like to have the latest coaching tools in your toolkit, ready for anything? Then you'll probably want to know more about Clean Language.

The title of our now-bestselling book
Clean-Language-Revealing-Metaphors-Opening [Amazon UK | Amazon US]
gives a hint of what's possible.

Wendy Sullivan and I wrote the book because we want to let as many people as possible know about Clean and its potential to facilitate transformative change in a respectful way. We like the way that Clean changes fit the client perfectly and so tend to stay changed.

The teleclass the two of us are running on Thursday (2 April) at 8pm is heading in the same direction. If you've been curious about Clean and what it can do... if you want to hear a demonstration session and ask questions afterwards... if you've been wondering whether learning it is for you... if you fancy asking and being asked the Clean Language questions under the supervision of experts... or want to talk about Clean Language and how it can be used... then do join us!

No experience or special equipment is needed - just a telephone, pencil and paper.

The cost is £7.50 (inc VAT) for a 90-minute call starting at 8pm. A maximum of 12 people will be allowed to join in, so grab your place now, here: http://tinyurl.com/ctz2mb

Robert Fritz TFC and DMA

after hering michael neil and barbara hand-clow mention this guy i decided to get one of his books.

it seems like fritz and his courses were quiite a big movement during the 80's perhaps similar to NLP. and fritz's TFC would appeal to those also interested in NLP.

this is a question for the over 40's ;)

did anyone on here take part in DMA or TFC ? was his methods useful or interchangeable with NLP ?

thanks

The Damned United – the Profile of a Driven Man

Yesterday I saw the film depicting Brian Clough and his time at Leeds United.

The tipping point as created by the director was the apparent snubbuing of Mr. Clought by a hero figure and fellow manager from teh top club of the day.

I was left wondering about the impact if he had been able to reframe this eposide?

Would he still have made teh success he did. It seemed as iof the snubbing produced alot of motivation for his success. I am not sure if this was true but it lead to an interesting question:

Are there times when people could use NLP techniques to achieve a "better" state at that moment and lose soemthing of value in the long run?

Watching the rest of the film I felt he would have benefitted from a better sense of perspetive along the way.

Cheers.

Nick

Numerical order

Phil says in the Clean Language section, the thread "What kind of things ...:

"David Grove did at one time experiment with using something like: 'And here is my first question.'... 'And here is my second question' and so on. Interesting though that they don't look or sound like questions, not as written here anyway. When I try them on myself, I miss the interrogative aspect. Anyone know what actual words he used for this?"

I'd have to go through my notes to find this one.

In our november meeting Lynn (the Elf) played an I-pod recording of David, I guess in Paris, using: "What is the first thing you know?" He explained (lovely to hear his voice again) that this implies a "What is the second thing you know?", etc. Of course it goes to six!
